Biography
As a child, I didn’t academically thrive in the traditional school environment. In fact the only class that had the power to quell my hyperactivity was Art. It was the only subject I would consistently get A’s in. This led me to completing my BA at Fordham University where I majored in communications and minored in Visual Arts.
I then worked in many different professions- production coordinator, owner of a sensory tank float center to name just a couple, but I always saw these jobs as not fulfilling enough. Then, while completing three years of drawing and painting studies with New Masters Academy, I realized that I had found the work I was looking for all these years.
Statement
I grew up in Connecticut drawing cartoons in my composition book at elementary school in the 1990s. I loved drawing back then and didn’t really focus so closely again on it for another 20 Years. The spark came back after participating in plant medicine ceremonies with my wife in Mexico. This shifted my priorities and led to the style of art I create.
The focus of my work is figurative landscape and still life oil painting on wood panel. The figurative paintings usually include a narrative and subtle surrealist elements.
The style of my oil paintings is directed by the purpose of my art which is to highlight the struggles and triumphs that people experience when setting out to become more connected to nature. Fostering and growing this connection is what I believe to be one of the most important things we can do with our time and so its motivating for me to try and expand the influence of these themes with my art.
